Tip of the Month

Forecasted color of the year

If you have glanced at the covers of recent home décor magazines ranging from House & Garden, House Beautiful and Elle Décor, you have likely noticed shades of purple have dominated the palette.  The seemingly once retro hue has now evolved and emerged as the elegant “it” color of the season.

Just last week, PANTONE® announced Blue Iris as 2008’s color of the year.  Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute® describes, “As a reflection of the times, Blue Iris brings together the dependable aspect of blue, underscored by a strong, soul-searching purple cast. Emotionally, it is anchoring and meditative with a touch of magic. Look for it artfully combined with deeper plums, red-browns, yellow-greens, grapes and grays."

Throughout the year, you will see these combinations of shades in interior paint choices, fabrics and upholstery, wallpaper and finishes.  Here are a few of our favorite fabrics showcasing this trend.
