Peruse our featured design styles depicted below and learn how Parker-Sims Interiors principal designer, Adrian Sims achieves each look through key inspirations and starting points.

Interestingly Eclectic:
The primary inspirations were the aged Charleston elements found tucked away in an architectural salvage shop. Incorporating these allowed us to embrace green design by reusing existing materials in creative ways. For instance, we used weathered candelabras to create side tables as well as an antique balcony, which we had made into a coffee table. Mix old with new to reinvent an eclectic space, and select bursts of color to accent a neutral palette.

Traditional Sophisticate:
Create a traditional look with rich fabrics accompanying classic furniture silhouettes. Introducing different textures is an effortless way to add depth and interest. The vibrant Asian inspired pillow boasting a more traditional color palette mingled with the tan tones in the upholstery, rug and painting provide a soothing yet appealing composition and atmosphere.

Creative Contemplation:
Keep this look transitional with clean lines and distinctive artwork.
Always begin your project with an inspirational piece, then fill in the details. The inspiration for this vignette was the Asian pillows accompanied by the Afghani rug. The hint of greens, browns and taupes in the rug harmonize with the fringe in the pillows, almost designed hand-in-hand. The more updated shape of the sofa combined with the striking nail head accents and funky lamps
and accessories embody the very popular transitional look, characterized as an updated traditional aesthetic with a hip flair that is yet shy of full-blown contemporary design.

Lowcountry Retreat
The driftwood bed is the main focus of this low country display. The blues and browns in the fabrics and rug compliment the natural tones of the wood, and the low country landscape reiterates the emphasis on elegant simplicity. The bed stands as a piece of art and the rest of the design falls right into place. To achieve the lowcountry look, blend old with new in small trinkets and details. Sweet grass baskets placed in empty spaces seamlessly incorporate Charleston’s rich culture. Accessorize with weathered woods, antiqued bottles or hurricane glass filled with sand, shells or your own treasures. Soothing neutrals or sea foam tones shape the palette with hints of stark white scattered throughout the décor offering unexpected interest. These essentials accompanied by bead board and distressed hardwood floors create a classic, lowcountry atmosphere. |
